Growing metal stamping company expanding in the region

Regional economic development organization The Right Place, Inc., along with its state partners, today announced that local minority-owned Mico Industries will invest $8.2 million to expand its West Michigan operations and add 81 new jobs.

Mico Industries is experiencing significant growth, recently being awarded a new project that is expected to increase sales by 50% beginning in 2016. This new work will require additional space and capacity. If the company was not able to find a suitable location in the region to add this capacity, West Michigan was at serious risk of losing this growth to another state – Texas.

To support the expansion, the company has been approved for a $350,000 performance-based grant through the Michigan Business Development Program.

“Mico’s decision to keep their growth in West Michigan further reinforces our recent ranking as #3 in the nation for business success,” said Megan Sall, Business Development Manager, The Right Place, Inc. “Companies like Mico face tremendous pressure to locate outside of Michigan, but thanks to our partners at the MEDC, we were able to create a positive environment where they could create jobs and invest here at home.”

With this latest economic development project, The Right Place, working with its local and state partners, has generated $106.6 million in capital investment and assisted in the creation of 855 jobs in West Michigan in 2015.
